Power Reimagined:
Women, Race and Law

The George Washington University

Power Reimagined will create an institute to increase the number and impact of Black women lawyers leading in all sectors of the U.S. government and economy.

We have to think creatively about the “Black Women Best” ideology, to revive our nation’s economy and soul.
Together, the George Washington University Law School, the nation’s Black bar association, and the nation’s only Black, woman-owned executive coaching firm will transform the gender and color of power in America.

Overview
This proposal reimagines the “Black Women Best” ideology, to revive our nation’s economy and soul. The Power Reimagined Institute for Black Women Attorneys in Leadership (PRI) will produce knowledge and methods to mentor, coach, and locate Black women attorneys in positions of leadership. Thus, PRI will improve economic, social, and political outcomes for all.

Our Mission PRI is the first comprehensive program established to focus on Black women lawyers’ success, to advance America overall. The Institute features a three-part, evidence-based program to accomplish this goal. PRI will empower Black women law students. It will “Egnyte” leadership skills by coaching Black women attorneys for leadership success and equip organizations with tools to elevate Black women lawyers into leadership ranks.
The Problem The disparities relative to foundational development, framing for relevant growth, and holistic student and market development have been painfully presented across the globe – for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), Primarily White Serving Intuitions (PWIs), and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUS).

THE SOLUTION

PPDG is a lead collaborator with the Dean’s Office of George Washington Law to launch the The Power Reimagined Institute. The Work has been endorsed by The Melinda Gates Foundation through the Equality Can’t Wait Challenge and is in its lab for funding consideration. The GW Law School Power Reimagined Institute will increase the number and impact of Black women lawyers leading in all sectors of the U.S. government and economy.
