Overview

The Southern University System Foundation has launched a new initiative to plan for the future of Southern University and A&M College and the surrounding community. Southern University is part of the only system of Historically Black College and Universities in the U.S. This comprehensive plan focuses on increasing enrollment and upgrading infrastructure, while expanding the university’s support of the local community. In collaboration with East Baton Rouge Parish officials, Scotlandville community leaders, Southern alumni, students, faculty, administration and community neighbors, efforts are underway to seek out community input that is representative of the diversity of the community.

Our Mission
PPDG works directly with leadership of the Southern University System, through the leadership of Chancellor John Pierre of the Southern University Law Center. The Southern University Law Center is proud of the tradition established by the original School of Law-to provide quality legal education commensurate with high professional standards. This legacy has inspired the Law Center to develop as a progressive, innovative institution that prepares students for success in all law-related segments of society. Excellence in legal education is the resounding goal of the Law Center.

The Discovery
The Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation Gaming and ESports Institute is a hub of creativity that seeks to develop pathways to the entertainment, gaming, and esports arenas. Through coursework, research, and practical training, the goal and objective of the institute is to engage individuals from underrepresented populations who are interested in pursuing educational, career, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the legal and business aspects of these industries. Furthermore, the institute seeks to encourage collaboration between diverse individuals, the community and business entities.
